Frequently asked questions
The things people ask before they buy, answered plainly. If yours is not here, ask us — a person will answer.
Getting started
How quickly can I get started?
Immediately. As soon as your payment succeeds, your hosting account and any domains are activated — there is no waiting period and no manual approval step.
Can you move my existing website across?
Yes, and we do it free of charge. We move the site for you and give you a temporary URL so you can check everything works before your domain is pointed at us, which means no downtime while you are deciding.
Which plan should I choose?
Shared hosting starts at $3.95/mo and suits most brochure and small business sites. WordPress hosting from $11.50/mo is built specifically for WordPress. VPS from $24.50/mo gives you your own server resources. If you are not sure, tell us what you are running and we will tell you which one fits rather than have you guess from a table.
Do I need to know how to run a server?
No. Shared, WordPress and our managed plans are administered for you through cPanel — you work on your website, we look after the machine underneath it.
Support
How do I get help, and who answers?
By phone on 1-800-793-4505, by email at [email protected], or by opening a ticket in the client area. Support is staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and a person answers — it is not a ticket queue with a chatbot in front of it.
Do I have to be a customer to ask a question?
No. You can open a ticket without an account, and pre-sales questions are welcome. Phone and email are open to anyone.
Reliability and infrastructure
What uptime do you guarantee?
We guarantee 99.9% uptime on your hosted environment, and 100% uptime on our data center network and power, both excluding scheduled maintenance. If we miss those commitments the SLA pays you service credits. The full terms are on our Service Level Agreement page.
Where are your servers?
In two United States data centers — Orange County, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. Your data stays in the US.
How long have you been doing this?
Since 2003. We are a US corporation based in Orange County, California, and we currently host several thousand clients.
Security and backups
Is an SSL certificate included?
Yes. Every plan includes free SSL, issued and renewed automatically, so your site serves over HTTPS without you having to buy or install anything. Paid certificates are available if you need extended validation or a wildcard.
What happens if my site gets hacked?
Open a ticket and we will clean it up for you at no charge. We would rather fix it quickly than have a compromised site sitting on our network — but do change your passwords and update your software afterwards, because a cleanup does not close the hole that let them in.
Do you back up my site?
We take backups, and on VPS plans we take snapshots weekly — or daily if you ask us to. Keep your own copies as well: our backups answer "the server failed", and they answer "I deleted the wrong thing an hour ago" far less well. That second one is how people usually lose work.
Do you provide email as well as hosting?
Yes — our own Standard and Business Email, or genuine Microsoft 365 licensing with Exchange Online, Teams and SharePoint. With Microsoft 365 through us, migration is included and you have one support line for both billing and problems.
My email goes to spam. Can you fix that?
Usually, yes. The common cause is missing email authentication, and we configure SPF, DKIM and DMARC for you as part of setting up your mail — there is nothing for you to add. If messages are still going to junk, send us the full message headers and we will look at your sending reputation. Please do not add a second SPF record yourself: a domain may only have one, and adding another breaks authentication for all of your mail.
Can you move my existing mailboxes?
Yes. Everything is copied across. How long it takes depends on how much mail there is, so tell us roughly how many mailboxes and how much data and we will give you a realistic window.
Billing and changes
Can I upgrade later if I outgrow my plan?
Yes. Moving up a plan is normal and we will handle the move for you. The price changes to the new plan’s price; open a ticket and we will tell you exactly what that is before anything changes.
Where do I manage my account and invoices?
In the client area at secure.outsourceis.com. You can view and pay invoices, open tickets, manage your services and update your details there.
Still not sure?
Tell us what you are trying to run and we will tell you what fits — including when the answer is a smaller plan.
